Member Promotes Scotland’s Brexit Grant

UK Gasket & Sealing Association member, William Johnston & Company, is one of the first businesses to access the new Brexit Support Grant announced by Scotland’s First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, on 12 March.

The £2 million grant, administered by Scottish Enterprise, is intended to help SMEs in Scotland prepare for Brexit and was announced during the First Minister’s visit to Allied Vehicles in Glasgow. William Johnston & Company are a supplier to Allied Vehicles and attended the event to help promote the availability of the grant to other businesses in Scotland.

Sandy McEwen, managing director of William Johnston & Company and vice chairman of the UK Gasket & Sealing Association, said: “Since Brexit was announced in 2016, we have been hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. As a manufacturer we have found the Prepare for Brexit website a helpful tool for highlighting some of the issues Brexit may bring our business. Today, we are in the eye of the Brexit storm but, hopefully, this grant will help us to be in the best position possible to deal with the potential changes in the business environment.
