Free Occupational Health Training for Line Managers

The government has announced free occupational health training for line managers in small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) across England.

The support, funded by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), comes as part of the government’s drive to tackle workplace sickness and is available between January and March 2026.

The training, led by the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), will give line managers the practical skills they need to recognise early signs that someone they’re managing needs help, so they can have supportive conversations about health and workplace adjustments.

This support aligns with the Keep Britain Working review recommendations on early intervention to tackle ill-health.

Eligible businesses can register for the free training on the campaign website, which will go live soon. Read more information about the free occupational health training on GOV.UK
