Members visit Polymer & Rubber Products Manufacturer
Posted on Jan 26, 2023The manufacturing capabilities and facilities at one of the UK’s most experienced manufacturers of polymer, polyurethane and custom rubber moulding products, were showcased at the UK Gasket & Sealing Association’s first event of 2023.
DLR Elastomer Engineering Ltd opened its doors to fellow Members of the UKGSA in January when members braved the wintry weather to travel to Leyland near Preston which is the headquarters of DLR.
Following merger and acquisitions of Leyland Rubber Components, Dexine Rubber Technologies and Elastomer Engineering, DLR Elastomer Engineering Ltd was formed in July 2021 creating a highly experienced and skilled rubber sheeting, fabrications and moulding company.
Members enjoyed an informative presentation from Anthony Jones (Business Development Manager), Jagdish Patel (Technical Manager) and Chris Chadwick (Managing Director) about DLR’s range of capabilities including:
- Bespoke Rubber Sheeting – specialist materials for fabrication supplied in uncured or vulcanised form utilising their various calendaring and Rota cure machines.
- Bespoke Rubber Mouldings – supply of a range of rubber mouldings including tooling and material advice. Machinery includes heat and timer controlled presses (12” to 4m), and injection moulding.
- Polyurethane & Sorbothane Casting and Moulding – the full process from design and specification through to material selection and trials. Machinery includes heat and timer controlled presses, heated tables, dispensing systems and ovens.
- Fabrication and Extrusion – fabrication and extrusion of a range of products.
They support new product developments using rubber or polymer materials from design to manufacture and are experts in material selection, offering customers advice on the best material choice for a range of technical factors including type (heat resistance) and class (volume swell).
A tour of DLR’s 100,000 sq ft factory and technical laboratory enabled Members to see the facilities first-hand and ask technical questions on a wide range of production topics. The event also enabled Members to network over lunch and refreshments.
This visit was the first Members Open Door event of 2023. These events provide an opportunity for Members to host a tour of their facilities to fellow Members.
