Members Beat Previous Years to Raise Money for Macmillan

Members of the UK Gasket & Sealing Association (UKGSA) raised an amazing £2,005.00 for Macmillan Cancer Support at our Golf Day Charity Dinner in September.

This year’s golf day was held at Telford Hotel and Golf Resort in Telford, Shropshire and saw both members and their guests travel from across the UK to enjoy a game of golf followed by a black-tie dinner in the evening.

Fundraising activities included a Beat the Pro shot on the golf course and in the evening there was an interactive Heads & Tails game to win a weekend away at the Hotel Anacapri by Gully Beach, Falmouth in Cornwall (kindly donated by the Hotel Anacapri), followed by a raffle with an array of prizes donated by members. The evening closed with an impromptu auction of two hospitality tickets for Manchester United Football Club.

Sandy McEwen, vice-chairman of the UKGSA and managing director of founding-members William Johnston & Company Limited, said: Due to coronavirus we were unable to hold our event in 2020 so were delighted to be able to get together this year with social distancing measures in place. Macmillan Cancer Support has been our nominated charity for a number of years, and our recent fundraising event brings the total we have raised to over £10,500.00!”

Macmillan’s fundraising manager for the West of Scotland, Michelle Campbell said: “At Macmillan, we’re here to help people live life, no matter what, but we can’t do it without the amazing people who fundraise for us. 2020 was a difficult year for many charities as lots of fundraising events were cancelled to the pandemic.  I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone at UKGSA for their continued support.”
