Make Cutting Edge Work Harder for your Business
Posted on Apr 14, 2026 Tags: BlogFour times a year, the UK Gasket & Sealing Association (UKGSA) issues an e-newsletter. Cutting Edge is packed with member news, industry updates, regulatory developments, and opportunities.
This guide is for any UKGSA member who wants to move from passively receiving Cutting Edge to actively using it as a resource for visibility and connection.
Read with purpose
Treat each issue as an intelligence exercise. Set aside 10 minutes when each issue arrives and read it with your business in mind. Ask yourself which member news stories reflect trends you should be tracking; are there regulatory updates that affect your business; has a competitor or potential partner announced something worth noting; are there any offcuts or offers you could use?
Submit news and editorial
One of the most under-used benefits of UKGSA membership is the ability to submit unlimited editorial articles to Cutting Edge.
Think about what your business has done recently that others in the industry would find interesting or useful:
- A new product launch or material capability
- Factory investment, expansion or move
- How you’ve solved a technical challenge
- A sustainability or accreditation milestone
Editorial coverage in a trade newsletter carries real credibility. Content deadlines are published on our website – add these dates to your calendar.
Use your free half page advert
Every UKGSA member is entitled to one free half page advertisement in Cutting Edge per membership year. If you haven’t used yours, now is the time to think about what you could promote and book your space in the next issue.
A half page advert is enough space to announce a new product or service, promote a current offer, or simply raise brand awareness. The newsletter reaches both members and a wider audience of industry contacts making it a useful channel for business development.
Promote your offcuts and special offers
Member offcuts and offers are included in Cutting Edge – and are also listed in the Member’s Area on the UKGSA website. This is a simple but effective way to move excess stock, find buyers, or flag promotional pricing to members.
Keep company information up to date
Cutting Edge also serves as a directory. If your contact details, capabilities or key personnel have changed, make sure the UKGSA has your current information.
Share it
When each issue arrives, forward it to relevant colleagues who might spot opportunities or achievements. If they’d like to receive the e-newsletter direct, they can sign up to receive it by emailing info@ukgsassociation.co.uk
Use it alongside other member channels
Cutting Edge can be used with other member touchpoints. We also issue e-blasts (members can use two free e-blasts per year), we operate a closed LinkedIn group, and are active on social media.
